No more chasing The world can come to me Cos I’m not gonna bust my gut for the scraps they leave for me I’m slowin’ down If you want me now I’m livin’ underground No more wasting All my precious time Cos I’m not gonna break my back for anyone’s good but mine I’m slowin’ down So if you want me now I’m livin’ underground Underground Way way down Underground No more racing Cos everyone moves too fast I’m just gonna take my time cos I build my shit to last I’m slowin’ down If you want me now I’m livin’ underground Underground Way way down Underground No replacing The original and the best Cos I was made to do my thing and let the other people do the rest I’m slowin’ down If you want me now I’m livin’ underground (I’m livin) Underground (I’m livin) Way way down (I’m livin) Underground Well, I don’t wanna be part of your scene And I don’t wanna be on no-one’s team I got my own thing going on So let it be known... There’ll be no more chasing The world can come to me If anybody needs me Let me tell you where I’ll be... I’m slowin’ down If you want me now I’m goin’ down Real low down That’s where I’ll be found Homeward bound I’m livin’ underground

Welcome to modern life - get in the queue for a pill It’s hard to swallow, but our friends at the top think we will If we take all the risks they think that we’ll never take If we break all the rules they think that we’ll never break Then maybe we could tell the pirates from the priests Or separate the politicians from the thieves Wake up, wake up! Shake up, shake up! Modernise or die Wake up, wake up! Shake up, shake up! Modernise or die It’s time to move aside - make way for young blood Make your retirement plans, before you drown in the flood You got so comfortable sitting your arse on the fence Changing the rules of the game until they’re bent The revolution won’t be incentivised There comes a time when we all must choose a side Wake up, wake up! Shake up, shake up! Modernise or die Wake up, wake up! Shake up, shake up! Modernise or die, yeah! Don’t try to shut us down - we know the whole truth Right from the horse’s mouth, we hear all we need to know So wake up, wake up! Shake up, shake up! Modernise or die Wake up, wake up! Shake up, shake up! Modernise or die Wake up, wake up! Shake up, shake up! Modernise or die Wake up, wake up! Shake up, shake up! Modernise or die Wake up, wake up! Wake up, wake up! Wake up, wake up!

Talk to me gently, talk to me calm Talk to me like this is not a fire alarm I have forgotten what it feels like To speak as if I’ve not already lost the fight Everything we say, we’ve said it before I can’t remember what moves me anymore 'Cause all that’s left are apologies and promises My ears fall deaf and my eyes are glazing over Remember when we used to open our mouths? We hardly could stop all the words tumbling out When they were new, they were precious as gold And now they sound dusty from getting so old All that’s left are apologies and promises My ears fall deaf and my eyes are glazing over I know who I am, but I cannot find you I showed you the road, I won’t drag you down it too Whatever the thing is that you have to do Don’t do it for us now, just do it for you 'Cause all that’s left are apologies and promises My ears fall deaf and my eyes are glazing over I love you, I do But not enough to see this through... Promises and apologies and excuses.

I was the wrong way up and I Took the long way around And I tried to settle down I got a 9-5 and I Bought a house with a man inside And I tried to settle down He says we should get away somewhere in the sun That might put a smile upon my face I run the bath so hot it burns my skin And I don’t ever wanna be this unhappy again Sometimes you’re just in And you can’t get out Cos you’re in too deep and too far down It’s been too long The chance to say goodbye has been and gone And whatever the time, your timing’s always wrong He asks what I want to do for Christmas time this year I don’t know how to say that I won’t be here And there are days I’d rather sink than swim And I don’t ever wanna be this unhappy again Oh, I don’t know if he knows I don’t know if he knows So if you see me about and I Take the long way around I’m just trying to settle down Please don’t ask about the shape I’m in Cos I don’t ever wanna be this unhappy again And I just don’t fit in In my own skin I don’t ever wanna be this unhappy again

Grey Suit 02:57
Get your grey suit outta my rainbow Get your colourlessness outta my eyesight Get your briefcase off’a my table You cast no shadow when you suck up all my light Get your sales talk outta my poetry I don’t owe you, and you don’t know me Won’t you loosen up your tie? Your little voice seems stuck inside Get your grey suit outta my rainbow Chorus I didn’t come here for the money I didn’t come here for the fame I didn’t come here to make everybody remember my first name Some of us are not here for the glory We don’t need to wear the crown Some of us will write a different story and we won’t back down Remember when I wasn’t hot enough property? And now you come around and crash my party But the flames got so much higher For you to piss on my bonfire Get your grey suit outta my rainbow Chorus I didn’t come here for the money I didn’t come here for the fame I didn’t come here to make everybody remember my first name Some of us are not here for the glory We don’t need to wear the crown Some of us will write a different story and we won’t back down Now I hold the cards, I will put them on the table Get your grey suit outta my rainbow

I heard you’re asking if I’m alright You know I’m English, so I’m perfectly fine I serve my tea with a stiff upper lip every day So I’m ok My European side isn’t so good I feel a panic rising up in my blood I’d cry, scream, wail, beat my chest every day if I could And maybe I should Chorus But I just gotta keep my head down Don’t you worry about me I just gotta hold my nerve Don’t you worry about me (don’t you worry ‘bout me) I just gotta serve my time Don’t you worry about me I just gotta keep my head down, hold my nerve and serve my time Til I’m free to get back to me So don’t you worry about me Don’t you worry ‘bout me And as for you, I wonder if you’re okay Or do you swim through treacle every day And pull your teeth out one by one in defeat Or is that just me? Chorus I just gotta keep my head down Don’t you worry about me I just gotta hold my nerve Don’t you worry about me (don’t you worry ‘bout me) I just gotta serve my time Don’t you worry about me I just gotta keep my head down, hold my nerve and serve my time Til I’m free to get back to me So don’t you worry about me Don’t you worry ‘bout me I’m the girl made out of stone Whatever’s thrown won’t break my bones, no, no I can drape my magic cape around my shoulders and escape Woah, woah Chorus I just gotta keep my head down Don’t you worry about me I just gotta hold my nerve Don’t you worry about me (don’t you worry ‘bout me) I just gotta serve my time Don’t you worry about me I just gotta keep my head down, hold my nerve and serve my time Til I’m free to get back to me So don’t you worry about me Don’t you worry ‘bout me

I got so tough, didn’t know I was soft Until I melted so bad you couldn’t scoop me up I got so cold, didn’t know I could love Until I felt my heart losing too much blood I got so wise, I couldn’t be fooled Until I found myself in love with you I got so addicted I couldn’t give up Until I got so deep I was way out of touch Chorus : Somebody gimme a direction Cos I’m the wrong way around Somebody gimme a solution To get my feet back on the ground And take a note of my location I’m in the lost and found I got so high, didn’t know I was low Until I found myself with nowhere to go I got so set eye with my eye on prize, that I could not see what I was pushing aside I got so sure I had it all worked out, that I could not tell I was drowning in doubt Chorus : Somebody gimme a direction Cos I’m the wrong way around Somebody gimme a solution To get my feet back on the ground And take a note of my location I’m in the lost and found I’m in the lost and found I closed my eyes and the world turned around I’m in the lost and found I looked up and the world cut me down I’m in the lost and found Chorus : Somebody gimme a direction Cos I’m the wrong way around Somebody gimme a solution To get my feet back on the ground And take a note of my location I’m in the lost and found I’m in the lost and found I’m in the lost and found

You used to be a stranger A lover in my mind I could not put a name To a face I could not find Now your picture never leaves me Wherever I may go And the name that I was seeking I believe they call it home I’m tired of planning for tomorrow And you, you’re sick of the same old yesterdays So why don’t we keep putting one foot in front of the other And let the road just lead the way Chorus I want you to know That I’m with you when you fight And I’ve got you when you fall If you ever need me at all I want you to call If you need a hand to hold Or your back’s against the wall If you ever need me at all If we can’t see ahead Then we’ll take what we find I know I keep you waiting But I won’t be far behind Don’t you know the final mile Is the hardest to run But they say if it’s the right thing Then you’ll know it when it comes I’m tired of answering to the world And you just wanted the world to answer you Chorus I want you to know That I’m with you when you fight And I’ve got you when you fall If you ever need me at all I want you to call If you need a hand to hold Or your back’s against the wall If you ever need me at all I want you to know If you ever need me at all If you ever need me at all I want you to call Cos I’m with you when you fight And I’ve got you when you fall If you ever need me at all If you ever need me at all If you ever need me If you ever need me If you ever need me at all

Mm-hm, mm-hm, mm-hm-mm-mm Mm-hm, mm-hm, mm-hm-mm-mm And so it’s over The curtains have closed We stand where we land And we both understand I’m doomed to lose You light up the fuse You throw and you know I got nowhere to go When you jump, you land on all fours While you watch me crash and burn Chorus You throw me out to the dogs And make me look the fool I’m caught between a rock and a hard place You set me up for the fall Then leave me hanging on I’m caught between a rock and a hard place Mm-hm, mm-hm, mm-hm-mm-mm Mm-hm, mm-hm, mm-hm-mm-mm Too late, it’s fate And I took the bait That skin you’re in is destined to win When you run, you start before the gun While I wait to take my turn Chorus x2 You throw me out to the dogs And make me look the fool I’m caught between a rock and a hard place You set me up for the fall Then leave me hanging on I’m caught between a rock and a hard place Mm-hm, mm-hm, mm-hm-mm-mm Mm-hm, mm-hm, mm-hm-mm-mm I suppose I never stood a chance When you cut my safety net away I suppose we’ll do this little dance Til we reach our dying day Chorus x2 You throw me out to the dogs And make me look the fool I’m caught between a rock and a hard place You set me up for the fall Then leave me hanging on I’m caught between a rock and a hard place Mm-hm, mm-hm, mm-hm-mm-mm Mm-hm, mm-hm, mm-hm-mm-mm Between a rock and a hard place (to end)

Are you listening? Are you listening? Are you listening? Are you listening? Don’t go givin’ it all away (Are you listening, Are you listening, Are you listening, Are you listening?) You’re gonna get let down Knock, knock at your soul Tap, tap in your bones I’m the constant voice in your ear Bang, bang on your brain Drip, drip, in your veins You can fight me or choose to hear So - you think you’ve got it all worked out You think you know what life’s about I’m just here to help you out You’re gonna get let down (Don’t go givin’ it all away) You’re gonna get let down You’re gonna get let... Don’t go givin’ it all away (Are you listening, Are you listening, Are you listening, Are you listening?) You’re gonna get let down Love will sometimes be Your worst enemy The truth will not always set you free Hold on tightly to What feels right for you When the world tells you differently Keep a little something for yourself Pay attention to your health Don’t mistake success for wealth Or you’re gonna get let... Don’t go givin’ it all away You’re gonna get let... Don’t go givin’ it all away You’re gonna get let... Don’t go givin’ it all away (Keep a little something for yourself, Pay attention to your health, Don’t mistake success for wealth) Or you’re gonna get let down Don’t go givin’ it all away You’re gonna get let down Don’t go givin’ it all away (Are you listening, Are you listening, Are you listening?) You're gonna get let down Don’t wanna get let down

about

It’s almost a decade since the release of Abi's last album – ten years in which Abi Moore experienced breakups, losing her home, lots of moving, touring, burnout and, eventually, a fresh comeback.

After the success of Amoeba & Stone in 2014, Abi Moore promised herself she wouldn’t return to original solo music until she produced something unexpected, sonically exciting and not written via her usual habit of sitting down with an acoustic guitar. Says Abi:
“Most of the music that excites me is somewhere on the rock spectrum,
whether it’s bluesy, rootsy, folky, grungy, or country/ Americana-
influenced. Even the Laurel Canyon artists I love sit at the rock end of
the 70s folk/rock genre. I thought a lot about what excites me as a
listener and had to question why I wasn’t making that sound myself.
Once I stopped caring about other people’s expectations of me, I bought a Telecaster, stompbox, some pedals and I found a sound that lit me up.”

Steering purposely away from the demure, acoustic singer/songwriter box she was often mistakenly assigned to, (“I’d rather not fit any box than be stuck in the same one forever,”) she challenged herself to write from the gut instead of the head. Avoiding any overthinking, over-editing or careful crafting to achieve a less considered, more gutsy feel, Abi instead “let out some impulsive, raw emotion in the moment. It’s the sound of my rebel self not filtering its thoughts before it speaks.”

The result is her new, fourth studio album, No More Chasing. It’s a sonic experiment– every song comes from a unique writing stimulus: one written in silence in her head, another over the drone of her cooker hood, some only with strings, to the beat of her car’s window wipers, from ideas she had in dreams, or to a rhythm stamped passionately into her kitchen floor with her flamenco shoes on.

No More Chasing sounds like the vocal harmonies of indie-folk band The Staves met the primal guitar riffage of Jack White, via the folk-rock stylings of Fleetwood Mac, the bluesy vibrancy of British duo Ferris & Sylvester, the attitude of When Rivers Meet and the southern gothic edge of Suzanne Santo.

It’s a unique space that Abi takes up. With influences from 50s rockabilly, 70s blues-rock, 90s singer/songwriter pop-rock and early 00s garage-rock, the end result is an Americana / Roots-Rock sound all of her own. It’s edgy, unafraid and unpredictable. Sometimes we only know it’s Abi because of her one constant signature instrument: her urgent yet soulful vocals, delivered with utter conviction and punctuated by impressive harmonised backing vocals. They are still the main focus, but this record is undeniably her rock moment, and the music is more visceral and looser than her previous work.

Americana / Roots-Rock artist from Nottingham. Abi's 4th studio album No More Chasing marks a raucous return after 10 years.

"Impactful, gritty, & above all, brimming with conviction. Abi's stripped back, stomp 'n' holler sound instantly took us to KT Tunstall, while her rootsy, distorted Americana guitar twangs have a delicious White Stripes flavour." RCM
